These classic turtle candies feature toasted pecans, soft caramel, and a rich chocolate coating. They’re perfect for holiday gift boxes, dessert trays, or whenever you’re craving a homemade sweet treat.

Yield: About 24 turtle candies

Ingredients

2 cups pecan halves
24 soft caramel candies, unwrapped
2 tablespoons heavy cream
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for a smoother chocolate)
Optional Toppings
Flaky sea salt
Chopped pecans
White chocolate drizzle

Instructions

1. Toast the Pecans
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Spread the pecans on a baking sheet.
Toast for 5–7 minutes, until fragrant. Let cool.
2. Arrange the Pecans
Line a baking sheet or tray with parchment paper.
Arrange 3–4 pecan halves in a cluster to resemble a turtle’s legs.
3. Make the Caramel
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramel candies and heavy cream.
Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth.
4. Add the Caramel
Spoon about 1 tablespoon of caramel onto the center of each pecan cluster.
Let the caramel cool for about 10 minutes.

5. Melt the Chocolate
